Senior Lecturer at Federal University of Education | Zaria | Best Researcher Award

Dr. Mohammed Kabir Tafida, born on April 14, 1980, in Zaria, Nigeria, is a distinguished mathematician and academician with a strong foundation in applied mathematics, teaching, and research. He obtained his B.Sc. in Mathematics from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (2005), followed by an M.Sc. (2014) and Ph.D. (2021) in Applied Mathematics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, alongside a Professional Diploma in Education from the Federal College of Education, Zaria (2013). His academic journey is complemented by a Certificate in Desktop Publishing and his membership in the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria. Dr. Tafida has served extensively in academia, beginning as a part-time teacher and lecturer, before rising through the ranks at the Federal University of Education, Zaria, where he currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer. His teaching portfolio covers a wide spectrum of mathematics, including calculus, algebra, differential equations, and mathematical methods. Professionally, he has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on fluid dynamics, natural and mixed convection, nonlinear differential equations, and magnetohydrodynamics, contributing significantly to mathematical physics. His research interests center on solving nonlinear differential equations in fluid motion without linearizing governing equations, focusing on natural convection Couette flows with temperature-dependent viscosity and thermal conductivity. He possesses expertise in analytical methods, algorithm development, and applied mathematical modeling, with skills in supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate research. Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Tafida has served in several academic leadership roles, including Departmental Coordinator, Assistant Project Coordinator, and Patron of the Mathematics Department, while also contributing actively to professional bodies such as the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS). He has participated in major national and international conferences, presented impactful papers, and attended specialized workshops to enhance his academic and professional growth. His awards and honors include recognition from the National Association of Mathematics Students (NAMS), Science Education Students Association (SESA), and an Award of Excellence from the Student Representative Council of FCE/ABU Zaria. Committed to community development, he organizes extra-mural lessons to support students in mathematics education. In conclusion, Dr. Tafida is a versatile academic, researcher, and mentor whose dedication to advancing applied mathematics, teaching excellence, and community service continues to inspire and impact both his students and the broader mathematical community.
